‘Passage to Redemption’ – A Brief Summary
A secret journey of Robert Darwin, father to the acclaimed evolutionist Charles Darwin, takes him to Central America in 1819. An old friend beckons him to come for reasons he is unable to share until his arrival, but insists that he must come. Upon his arrival he finds his friend dead. Messages left behind sends Darwin to Honduras in search of a lost tribe of Mayans. He finds himself whisked away into the heart of the jungle where he becomes part of an ancient Mayan ceremony whereas he is presented with strange artifacts that are said to be from mysterious ‘visitors’ from another place or time. He is told he is the new keeper of these artifacts. Upon his return journey to England Darwin loses possession of the strange artifacts due to life threatening circumstances out of his control. With the artifacts thought to have been lost at sea all is forgotten.
In the open waters off the cost of Spain in the year 1820, a Merchantman cargo ship is rescued from the ravages of a Spanish Galleons cannon by a Royal Navy Frigate. Too late to save the cargo ship that was critically wounded and sinking, a boarding party was formed to off load any survivors and cargo. Part of the rescue party was the Number-six gun crew, while hastily searching the lower decks of the sinking ship, they stumble across a sea chest. Inside a strange black fur wrapped bundle containing a shinny piece of black stone with carvings, a written journal, and some old bone fragments of a human like skull. Further investigations reveal a parchment proclaiming the whereabouts of a treasure of unknown wealth. Knowing they couldn’t keep the chest as it would belong to the Royal Navy, the Number-Six gun crew risk everything to hide the treasure map, so they split it into eight pieces. Each man carefully hiding his piece into the seam of his pennant flag. Swearing to meet again on a later date and search out the treasure and all would become wealthy and live out the rest of their lives in luxury. With this secret they disperse and go their separate ways.
In the year of 1858 Charles Darwin publishes his journal ‘ On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection,’ setting the Religious leaders of all faiths in a fury of panic. Feeling that the religious foundations of many different faiths are in question, the individual leaders form a secret ‘Council’ to unite and discredit Darwin. The outcome did not discredit him but helped to fuel a strong following that stood the test of time. Unable to change the views of all peoples the ‘Council’ goes underground, forgotten except for those involved, including the secretive Vatican.
As a young boy Ray Baxter was obsessed with stories from his estranged father about a family secret that entailed pennant flags and un-found treasures that would make any man rich beyond his wildest dreams. Ray was an illegitimate son from an affair his father had with his mother, possessed with greed he would stop at nothing to hunt down the descendants of the Number-six gun crew. From his childhood days Ray knew one of the flags belonged to his half-brother who resided in Australia. He sets out to try and convince his brother to give him his flag. What would happen in Australia would send Ray into a dark abyss that would catapult him into a global game of cat and mouse. Ray intended to have all of the flags at any cost.
Arny Baxter, a young teenager, finds himself an orphan after the tragic and un-expected death of his parents. Consumed with grief, he finds out for the first time he has an uncle he never knew existed. Unable to deal with the loose of his parents, he sets out to find his long lost uncle, the only surviving relative he has left. Surely his uncle would want Arny in his life. Believing that his uncle knows not of him, he hastily leaves Australia in a desperate search for Ray. Arny finds himself a day late and a dollar short every time he thinks he has found him, missing him by just days at every location.
Francesca Imbriani, a brilliant young scientist and devout Catholic, recently joins a special unit research team investigating methods of CO2 capture and storage. One of her passions is Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. A re-creation of Darwin’s Beagle voyage is about to commence and she hopes to land the job as the biologist. In the mean time a discovery is made in the museum house of Victor Hugo on the island of Guernsey. A sea chest supposedly belonging to Robert Darwin was discovered. A special unit was assembled and after the inspection of the chests contents were discovered, word was relayed to the underground council of religious faiths.
What mysteries did the chest hold that the “Council” would be interested in. Why was a special unit assembled, with most being experts in the field of accent hieroglyphics. Mayan hieroglyphics to be exact. Within a years time the “Council” would gain control over all global governments for reasons related explicitly to the Darwin chest. The “Council’ would report that urgent information recently discovered would change the course of all governing societies to one that would mandate extreme and complete control over the entire population of Earth. Global Martial Law is activated.
How did Darwin’s Mayan artifacts change the course of humanity? What did they find? Find out what role Ray, Arny, and Francesca have to play in the outcome of this thrilling ride. One that would change the course of history for all of humanity. “Passage to Redemption” is a real page turner that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat as they follow these three characters on a race against the clock to save the human race from extinction.
